NCoC Learning Circle: Engage, Inform, Print, Repeat: How Printers Work and Play in Democracy
(Access Passcode: 6Y=+#A1K)
Art and the printing press has long been used as a tool for civic and political expression. Still today, it helps leaders and activists form messages and movements that have transformed civic and political engagement in our country.
NCoC is fortunate to partner with an exceptional group of printer/designers to bolster our civic messages and inspire our community. In this Learning Circle, we’re joined by
- Allison Fisher, Globe Collection and Press at MICA (gloebatmica.com @globeatmica)
- Rick Griffith, a printer/designer from MATTER (theamalgamated.org @theprintersunion)
- Jenny Wilkson from Partners in Print (partnersinprint.org @pipletterpress)
They led us in a discussion about the ways we can use art to better communicate and mobilize others. They focused on unique partnerships between local printing houses and civic organizations – as well as the ways art can support a thriving local democracy. Our hope is this Learning Circle helps spark some creative ideas.
