Administrative Assistant

As a member of the Civic Renewal Team, Sarah is responsible for program support across the entire initiative. She comes to the Team with a background and network in social science theory and practice. Sarah’s role includes project management and logistics planning for the convening hosted by NCOC as well as auxiliary content development for materials put out by staff. As part of a general operations role, Sarah helps with financial management, office administration and supports the needs of the Board of Directors. Prior to NCoC, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for Finn Church Aid Americas, a Finnish humanitarian aid organization where she was involved in the opening of a brand new office in Washington DC. Previously, she worked at SCAN of Northern Virginia where she worked in development, helping to secure grants for the organization and co-facilitated parenting classes in the community. Sarah graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She was a member of the Phi Alpha Honors Society and wrote a thesis on the disenfranchisement of felons in Virginia, igniting her interest in civic health and equality. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Work from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. While getting her Master’s Degree, she worked as a Graduate Research Assistant, conducting research on immigrants and mental health.
