Joi Rae is a dedicated public servant who currently serves as Head of Operations and Partnerships at New_ Public, a project of the National Conference on Citizenship. She has previously worked in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Before joining the team, Joi served as the Chief of Staff of a non-profit organization focused on eliminating America’s STEM teacher shortage. Prior to that, she spent nearly a decade working in various positions in New York City government. Most notably, at the New York City Mayor’s Office, Joi helped to grow and diversify the City’s talent pipeline. During her time at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, she helped to create and administer one of the country’s first implicit bias training programs for prosecutors.
Joi holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Human Rights from Barnard College and a Master’s in Public Administration from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.
She is active in her local community and committed to creating more seats at every table. Joi resides in Brooklyn with her partner, an engineering manager in tech, and her dog, a very social pug.
