Bryce Bennett has dedicated his life – as an organizer, a nonprofit leader, and legislator – to ensuring every voice is heard and every vote is counted.
Bryce is a life-long Montana resident, originally growing up in a rural town of 400 people. He got his start in politics by registering people to vote. Going out in knee deep snow and pouring rain to help ensure everyone has a say in our elections.
For eleven years, Bryce worked in nonprofits dedicated to educating and empowering the next generation of civic leaders with the tools to create change. As political director of Forward Montana and executive director of MontPIRG, Bryce led a team dedicated to giving young people a voice in their democracy. Through hands-on field and classroom training, Bryce helped hundreds of interns and volunteers learn the skills to change the world around them. He has built a record of growing organizations that punch above their weight.
Bryce was elected to the Montana House of Representatives in 2010, serving as the youngest legislator of the session at 25 years old. Bryce also became the first openly gay man to ever be elected to serve in the Montana Legislature. Bryce was named by the Advocate magazine as one of their ’40 under 40’. He was also named to Out magazine’s ‘Power List’ as an “exemplary individual [who] manages to influence the way others live — either through their public personas, politics, or wealth — and affect cultural and social attitudes.” Bryce was also named “Legislator of the Year” by the Montana Ambassadors for his work to pass sweeping campaign finance reform legislation.
Bryce has successfully worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass common sense legislation to empower voters and take down institutional roadblocks to casting a ballot. Following eight years of service in the House, Bryce was elected to the Montana Senate in 2018, and was a nominee for Montana Secretary of State in 2020. Bryce used his run for Secretary of State to highlight voting issues and push for safe and secure elections for all Montanans.
Bryce is incredibly excited to join the Vote Early Day team and lead the nationwide celebration to help Americans learn how and when they can vote early. Vote Early Day has brought together an amazing collaboration of corporations, media companies, nonpartisan nonprofits, technology platforms, election administrators, and influencers. Bryce is eager to work with our growing list of partners to make Vote Early Day 2021 a success for voters across the country.
