Two well-known Indiana public servants are in the Tri-State talking about civic engagement. Former Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard and former Congressman Lee Hamilton are promoting the results of the 2nd annual Indiana Civic Health Index. It measures how actively citizens engage in their communities and gives a look at how Hoosiers stay informed about current events. Earlier Friday morning they appeared on Local 7 Lifestyles and said it revealed new information since the last one done in 2011. ” Overall I think the index points in a direction for us and it indicates that Hoosiers interested in their communities. They are interested in making their communities better and they really want to see things improve for their families, neighbors and their communities, said Lee Hamilton. The report indicates from the last index there were some programs set into motion particularly in schools and universities that have that we think in the long run will make a difference,” said Randall T. Shepard. ~1@BODYURL[id=114jbcurl1291]@
